Its possible it isn't parented to the body part of the figure.  Make sure you select the bodypart of the figure instead of the BODY element.

Also, note that props are static items -- unless tey include morphs for it, they will stay with the figure, but they don't actually move, unless they are something like dynamic clothing, which requires a sumulation.
