THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: No Open GL Icon?

Terry Mitchell ( ) posted Sun, 16 April 2006 at 3:53 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 9:57 PM

I know this will sound blasphemous  to all you dedicated Brycers, but I have not tried using Bryce since installing the 5.5 DAZ version upgrade from my pre-DAZ version (which I actually did use a time or two).  I went to use it today, and can't seem to find the Open GL icon that is supposed to be on the right side of the working window.  I recall when installing the upgarde something about implementing the Open GL function, and I thought I did that.  I do have a robust computer system with the proper Open GL video card and such, but I'm at a loss on figuring out what Bryce is supposed to do for me/show me regarding Open GL setting.  Help, please?

it has something with the "Display Modes" thingle to the lower right of the screen. Click it and hold for some seconds, it has to have a menu expanded, where you can choose the Smooth Shaded mode which uses OpenGL. Hope this helps :) kitty5

Just to make things blindingly clear, the "Default" views are not OpenGL, everything below the line is.

Well, I tried that, and a little message box popped up in the same area as the display drop down menu stating that "The spy communication shield has blocked access to..."  and next to these words was a picture of the little Bryce display icon, and then Bryce froze (had to use ctrl-alt-del to get out).

I have no idea what's causing this, as I don't know that my Spyware program (Webroot Sypsweeper) or anitvirus program (EZ-Tust Antivirus) function to block changing display modes in Bryce????

Well, I'd try runing off the spy communication shield. I'd also wonder why your av software is blocking a local resource call.

Junk that thing and install Spybot, AD-ware and AVG Anti-Virus. ;) All free programs.

Xenic101, I don't even know what the "spy communication shield" is supposed to be, nor what legitimate program I am running that has such a "feature", if any..  I've never seen any reference to this before with any of the programs I'm running.

I take it no one else has encountered this quirky behavior.?

"spy communication shield", that would be a message from your Webroot Spy Sweeper.
