Quote - Agree with Anton - usually uploading pic into gallery means that the author is proud of it and would like to hear some praises - unless the artist specifies that this is something he would like to hear some criticism/advice on. Doing something just for pleasure of doing it means that the artwork never shows up in public.
Well, one thing clear is we all have different interpretations on the expectation of the gallery :)
As for me personally, the gallery is a public viewing place where I would expect any comments to flow whether it's positive or negative. Because, after all, you are displaying your work to others and they'll judge your work one way or the other, because that's what we humans do. As long as the gallery doesn't specify on what comments should be posted, that judgement will be free to be posted whether that person likes it or not. And I haven't been here long enough to make those kind of statement about this gallery, but I feels as the common theme around here is that people usually post more praisals than negatives. So I could also understand grylin's point of view because all grylin is saying that "hey, most people are getting positive feedback in Rendo's gallery, so why I should I be receiving negative feedbacks which are so uncommon here", am I close or no?
Anyways, just to give my 2cents, this is what I do. Whenever I upload my work here, I usually expect for the worst. Well, maybe not that extreme, but I try to keep my expectations low. So, whenever someone views my work or leave a comment, that always becomes positive for me regardless of the content of the commment. Obviously, as a human being, I do also like to receive praisals like any others, but I do have to keep remind me that critiques are just as necessary in improving my work.
