Hi. Just a small comment. I like the new forum except for having to login twice (once for the galleries and again for market. Just one more item, when is the new challenge for writer's going to be shown? I know everyone is busy but the last challenge was January. Hugs to all. Sue

It's funny...I don't seem to have to sign in twice anymore. I wonder why the system works differently for different computers. Weird. Anyway, I don't know when the official challenge will change, but we can always pose our own challenges, either in the forum as a special thread, or use the Writers Gallery/Challenge Genre to post the results, and provide links on a thread. This has the advantange of allowing comments, for those who want them, to be posted with the written material. Disadvantage is that the comments are spread. The only ones who can post a challenge on the front page are moderators/coordinators or people given permission on a limited basis to be contest managers. dido6 and midrael might be open to that suggestion if someone requested being the contest manager for an upcoming challenge. One idea other forums have used is that a second coordinator is added who can support the other two. I know recently the Paint Shop Pro forum got a new moderator and added a coordinator because dreamsosweet was absent for a long period of time. It makes sense to have back ups but it may depend on what staff is available. Some of this depends on the interest level of the forum members.

Actually the only one that can post a challenge is the moderator, not the coordinator.. trust me, I know hehe.

I apologize for it having been so long since the last challenge. I will work on getting a new one up asap for you guys! If you ever have any suggestions for themes you'd like to see for challenges by the way, please message me with them!

Actually I was a little unclear and I apologize for that.  There are other members who can be made contest managers for the purposes of approving submissions. I remember that from a brief experience I had.

Maybe they'll promote you one of these days, David, so you can you have your own power stick.  :D

LOL I wouldn't mind having a power stick. I hear those are handy ;)

By the way, might I just add that your 12 thousand posts are simply obscene dialyn ;) ;)

I totally agree with you David. It just shows how dominant she is on the forum. She should be called "Oh Ancient One" and we curtsy or bow in humble awe.... lol

In all fairness, not all 12,000 messages were posted on the writer's forum.

I get around.

I'd like to see us return to the good old, informal method for doing Challenges. It was much easier then. The Mod or Coordinator could just start a Challenge thread and let it flow. None of that messy system overhead. As a standard forum thread there could be much more back and forth between the participants and the readers. Heck, users could even post more than once if so inclined.

Thoughts?

I liked the old system too.  I am guessing there is some reason why the system was changed...maybe to try to encourage participation by others off the thread.

Interestingly enough, the Challenge Forum is never announced on the front page and always uses the method of asking people to post to a thread within the forum.  😕 The only way you ever know a challenge is running on that forum is if the community members advertise it among themselves (which, lately, they have been doing a good job of).

Maybe we should try going back to the old system and see if there was more participation.

Or not.

I'm easy.

Despite my reputation.

Actually, I'm about 2 minutes away from starting up a little mini-challenge in a thread. Really, the current challenge method is a sort of hold-over from when the challenges were actually contests, you had voting, and actual prizes for the winners.

I like the idea of posting the challenges directly in the forum, as there isn't any prize and it feels more hands-on that way. Anyway, off to post!
