Subject: Turning a sphere prop into a light source....possible?

The gather node does work and couldn't be simpler to use. However, the results are very grainy and, IMHO, useless.

Here is a poser primitive "cane". The ambient color of the cane is green. Behind it is a one sided square with the material as shown. All my lights are completely off, so the only light on the one sided square is coming from the gather node. You can clearly see the glow. But its ugly.

 

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
