whilst the PRC's southern provinces have been (and will continue to be) the sources of any new avian viruses, the likely transmission routes are via migration of wild birds, and human travel from the southern provinces, whether by foot, boat, motor-car or airline. I doubt that the sort of shoddy, substandard goods they sell at walmart are likely sources of transmission of the H5N1 influenza virus, but the chief reason for not shopping at walmart is quite simple. a considerable percentage of each purchase there goes to the build-up of the PRC's military, which has stated the purpose for its buildup is to bring it to the point where it can wage a successful land and sea war against the U.S. for control of taiwan. hence, if one supports walmart, one supports the hegemonists in the PRC's dictatorship. similar to the way one supports terrorists by filling up one's SUV every few days, but that's a threat of a different colour.
