Thank you all! I got this to work.  Veritas777's info was very helpful.  I had missed th Ctrl D in that tuturoial somehow.  It does take a bit to save all the textures from the tree bark, leaves, etc, and then recombine, but it does work and looks pretty good in vue  So for the $3 per sampler pack, its a cheap price to pay to get the nice trees :)
