Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 24 11:54 pm)
Never actually heard of it, but that's not surprising, considering the number of modelers out there. If you can export in .obj, .3ds., .dxf, yada yada (there's a lot of formats Poser will take, only one I know off hand it won't take is .max)
You can create whatever you like; from simple primitives to completely-posable characters. Mainly I see people create an object in .obj form, clean up the model (I've heard that Poser doesn't like 3-sided polygons, but I'm already over my head here..;) UVMap the exterior for textures, import into Poser, and have fun. Poser's scaling is a bit different from a lot of other programs, you may need to experiment with sizes until you get a ratio that works for you.
Once you've created something along the lines of characters, or poseable props, you may have to do some extra steps (I've heard of something called 'boning', but haven't gotten around to it..;)
Do a search for Doc Geeps' tutorials; he's the go-to guy on beginners to advanced. At least he uses his powers for good..;)
I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit
anahl nathrak uth vas betude doth yel dyenvey..;)
Does it export any other format (don't see it on their site)?
Sorrily, Poser only exports VRML but does not appear to support import of it.
What you may need is software to convert either VRML or S3D to a format that Poser can handle: 3DS, DXF, LWO, OBJ
C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the
foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg
off.

I've been using the program Spazz3D for years to make 3D objects and such for some virtual worlds... Is it possible to make props for poser using that program? If so, how do I go about doing it?
