Four Poser models accurately portraying the Panzer IV development. Early versions, mostly up to 1942, used during the Blitzkrieg and in the occupation of France, carried the short barrel 75mm anti-infantary gun.

When the Germans encountered the Shermans in North Africa the gun was upgraded to the long barrel version.

When the tanks encountered the Soviet T-34`s, they started adding extra armour plating and armour "skirts" around the turret.

Towards the end of the war, the Allies had air superiority, and the tanks were mostly hidden, camouflaged, and used from cover, as they couldn`t travel without being targets for the tank-buster aircraft.

Loads easy, works perfectly, many moveable parts...Thank you again! :thumbupboth:

PS: Are there some more textures forthcoming maybe?

Helgard ( ) posted Mon, 08 May 2006 at 1:48 PM

Insom_Nia,

I am working on some other add-ons, ammunition crates, shells, both Hi Explosive and Armour Piercing, camouflage nets, extra track links for making tracks with boolians like you see in the promo pictures, and a few other small pieces.

There are three other camouflage schemes that the Germans used, so I will make those sometime as well.

Is there anything else you want, except for extra textures?

Insom_Nia ( ) posted Mon, 08 May 2006 at 2:36 PM

Your plans sound very nice!
What else could I wish for....hmmm....let's see....maybe a worn out Panzer. You know, after heavy duty at the front a Tiger looks not so clean anymore. He's got scratches, holes, dents...poor beast!
How about a wrecked one? (just an idea)

Keep up the great work! 😄

Like this?

Coming soon in a package called military wrecks.

Will consist of five or six vehicles as static props for using in military scenes.

If you have the Military Environment 2, there is a wrecked Panzer included in that already.

Hopefully I will be helping Ranman38 to rig this for Poser. And there will be a M7 Priest, Hanomag, Willy's Jeep and a Schimwagen coming soon.

*Is there anything else you want, except for extra textures?*

accessory : "umbrella"-type antenna for a Befehlspanzer. Maybe even a "bedframe"-type for the older versions.

Since there are so many other vehicles coming I shall not ask for all the vehicles based on the PZ IV  : Jagdpanzer, Flakpanzer, Bergepanzer, Tauchpanzer, Munitionspanzer, ... or the other Panzers that have not yet been "Poserized" : PZ I, II, III, Königstiger, 38t, ...

About the new vehicles : what is the Hanomag ? Sdkfz 251 ?

Hint : The camouflage net in the picture was made using a high-res square primitive with an appropriate texture+transmap (I have one from another tank set)  which was draped on the tank in the Poser 6 cloth room.

JHoagland ( ) posted Mon, 08 May 2006 at 5:53 PM

That's a very nice Panzer model.

My only complaint is that you posted all the cool images in the forum. Now the customers won't have anything to look at when they go to purchase the product.

Go to Vanishing Point and look through the freestuff. There is a free Jagdpanther, with working treads, as well as a free camouflage net for it. (not sure where the camouflage net has gone, will try to find the link, I know I made one and uploaded it, lol, but I don't know where? Like the one in the picture.)

"what is the Hanomag ? Sdkfz 251 ?" - Yes.

I have started work on a SturmTiger. But that is months away. I am just one man, lol.

PS There is an expansion coming for the free Jagdpanther as well, with armour plates, four textures, etc.

John,

"My only complaint is that you posted all the cool images in the forum. " - John, are you saying that the other pictures on the site aren't cool? I am so hurt, lol.

The rest of the pictures are not just "cool", they are sublime --I give you my word! And they do justice to such an outstanding model! Well done Helgard!

Helgard,

That IS the Vanishing Point Jagdtiger in my picture .

As for the Sdkfz 251, I was somewhat afraid of that answer. There is already one for sale at Renderosity and I found another one for free at DMI

here http://market.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=36302

and here http://dmi.chez-alice.fr/modelsvehicle1.html  ( this site has connection-problems )

The only improvement could be that you offer all 23 versions for all the body-versions (A-D)

Panko,

You'll have to wait until Helgard makes some Russian tanks, they really used female crews.

Picture taken in Houffalize near Bastogne in 1995. Not bad for a tank that was blown from a bridge and spend 3 years lying upside down in an undeep river ...

I don't own the version available at renderosity, but I would like to know two things:

What is the polygon count on that model? 300 000?

Are the tracks animated? Or is this a 3ds prop with no Poser moveable parts? (In other words, you have to rig it yourself)

JFandL makes really excellent models, most probably more detailed than mine, but they are not Poser models. I need a Hanomag for my own purposes, that is why I am making one, you just benefit because I sell what I make for myself as well, lol.

I have looked at the one from DMI to see if I could do a free model using theirs as a base (they allowed me to do this with the DWC-54 ambulance) but the model wasn't suitable for me.

Helgard....those tracks are animated in Poser? If yes, I'm in awe.....

Helgard- I didn't mean that the other images weren't as good. :)
Like Panos said, those images are sublime pieces of artwork. lol

Quote - Helgard....those tracks are animated in Poser? If yes, I'm in awe.....

Of course the threads on the Panzer are animate-able in Poser. After all, this is a Vanishing Point tank made by Helgard. :)
We don't believe in taking the easy way out by using parented props to "fake" the movement of tank treads.

I proudly put this under my signature, lol:

"If it moves in the real world, it moves on the model."

Obviously within reason, but all the main things that need to move in animations and renders we try to make move on the model. I think in my last model, the M3A1 Halftrack, I had 176 moving parts, which was admittedly a bit over the top, and I don't think I will go that far again.

You can download the free Jagdpanther on Vanishing Point, that also has moving tracks if you want to see how it is done.

This is great, couldent resist it when I saw it. just what I needed for an image I've had in mind for a while.

just wondering if theres a any chance of a sherman and T34 in the pipeline?

ranman38 ( ) posted Wed, 10 May 2006 at 8:52 AM

I have  a sherman in the works, perhaps after Helgard and I work on getting my Panther into poser, I will be able to finish my Sherman and make it moveable myself.

artbyphil ( ) posted Wed, 10 May 2006 at 9:23 AM

sounds good to me:)

Mazak ( ) posted Wed, 10 May 2006 at 2:56 PM

Let me say this; the ready rigged for Poser is for me the most important part on Helgards models. That make it very easy form me to animate in Poser and import the complete animation in my preferred 3D Render program. I use Cinema3D and VueInfinite; Helgards products import perfectly in these applications; inclusive the animation. 👍
(You can call this cheating)
