Can the model be manipulated manually as apposed to just doing pre-set poses?

Alot of camera control but no model controls?

There are limits to what you can do, but the transform controls on the right side are what you're looking for, I think. the problem being that, if you exceed a certain limit, the particular morph origin will make itself very noticeable, so the best solution is to find a pose that's close to what you want, then go from there. Also, make sure you've loaded the parameter dial palette, located in View>Tabs, and you can use the parameter dials in the same way.  Alternately, you can use the Power Pose tool, located above your viewport, by clicking on its' icon ;)  (it's the bone icon)

You should be able to manipulate parts on screen, but you need the right tool selected (and your graphics ard might stop you, too). The first time you load D|S it has the selection tool active, which doesn't allow any manipulation - there are also rotate, translate ans cale tools (of which the first is most useful for posing figures) and the Power Pose tool (sort of IK, with the option to pin different body parts). D|S remembers the last tool used when you relaunch it.
