What might perhaps allay some of cliff-dwellar's fears would be screen shots of a converted gallery.  I would think that the conversion is far enough along that you have some samples that are functional enough to capture into images.  Give us an idea what the main/community galleries will look like, the individual artist's gallery page, and then the individual art page.  We might then be able to spot if something seems missing or otherwise troublesome.
