My advice(depending on if you have used any 3D modeling apps before) would be to download and try several 3D modeling software and see which one you feel comfortable using. Start off with any tutorials for the particular one you choose to get a better feel for how it works. You can check out this link for some mention of the different ones out there. Mainly the bottom line is to just have fun with whatever one you choose and don't get frustrated.
