"Background Update"
Vue updates its various views "in the background", ie, using spare CPU time to do the updates.
This allows you to move the mouse around and (eg) select something else whilst the updating continues, but also means that the updating is slow, and if whatever it is you then change affects the views, the updating has to start over. On a PC, this means that the updating of the views (including the "nano-view") happens at molasses rate. This does, however have some compensations. You can use the time whilst waiting for the update to finish to make a cup of tea, have a cigarette, walk the dog.... OK, I exaggerate. And things may be different on a Mac..
Oh, and AFAIK, your specs look good enough (not really able to comment on that, but seem OK)
