 Every little bit that helps me fix this firmly in my mind will help.

 I seem to need the various techniques involved every now and then - but by then I've forgotten how.  So if I can make myself a set of instructions (step by step and thus simple enough for little doapy here) then next time I'll know where to find it.  And then maybe eventually I'll learn it enough not to need it.  Well.... stranger things have happened. (shrug)
