Everything you claim about the AOL browser may or may not be true, I am not well versed in IT so I cannot tell.

Regarding the browser being totally aimed at AOL's services it is equally true that IE is totally comitted to Microsoft services.

As for hogging memory, this is not a significant problem but if I use a different browser it will use even more memory as it will run in addition to the AOL browser.

I have been on the web for 1 year now and have had no problems until this one and must have visited thousands of other sites in that time.
