Yes, POSE-ray essentially converts quite a few formats into POVray format for rendering, and it can save them as povray, moray or OBJ.
So you can use it just as a file convertor. (without even installing the actual renderer, POVray)
Also very useful are the ability to collect all textures in a single directory, resize textures, exclude unwanted objects, split vertices, mesh smoothing.
This is before you get to the excellent renderer, with GI and simulated HDRI.
