Mary...it is a very sad looking weather...brrr. Simmilar here (au). If not raining, then windy - if not windy than raining! 
About gas /petrol price. $1.45 au / littre and rising. My full tank on a 4x4 (70l) cost me $100.00 au . 
Roughly $ 145.00 US. Taking fotos getting expensive, not that would stop me doing it.
