I have both Shade and Carrara, and before Eovia sold out to another company, I was using Carrara exclusively for all Poser production renders. On the strength of the product and support, I even made the mistake of purchasing Hexagon. (And had the good fortune to get most of my investment back.) Carrara works great with Poser, with or without the TransPoser add-on (included free in the Pro version), but I will be switching to Shade as soon as I can afford the 8.5 upgrade.

There's is more to consider than how well the program works today. It's a safe bet that C6P will be just another piece of promise-laden junkware. Shade is slowly integrating Poser, and by Shade 9.0, I expect interoperability equal to Carrara's. And I expect a round of dirty tricks in Carrara updates, now that it is owned by people who imagine themselves Poser's competition.
