Getting into Blender requires strong nerves: the interface initially looks very chaotic. The first "breakthrough" is very difficult. I remember it as a very unpleasant period: in the addition to problems with strange interface, I also had problems with graphics card drivers and I never knew if a particular problem was just misunderstanding, or wrong displaying. Just imagine all these disappearing buttons and menus that didn`t want to open :0
After that you slowly start realizing that you have a powerful tool. But Blender interface is like Han Solo ship: you can do really much [for free!!], but sometimes you have to know where to bump with your fist if nothing works:P

"Noob to pro" is especially up-to-date.
Also, I found "Class Blender" very useful for understanding the interface. Do a google, sorry, I don`t have it linked directly.
