Subject: uninvited e-mails from merchants

Gini ( ) posted Fri, 11 August 2006 at 10:31 AM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 2:35 PM

There are now 3 merchants that I have received unsolicited direct emails from regarding on sale or new products available from them. I have bought items from all here at R'osity and if an item here in my wish list goes on sale I have no objection to receive a notice about that from this site . However I really do not want to receive any e-mails from merchants directly regarding new products or on sale products either here or at their own sites . I don't know if a guideline to merchants has ever been set regarding this but I am not happy about it happening. Just because I buy product from someone does not mean I wish to be on their mailing lists for the future . The reason I am posting about it here rather than e-mailing the merchants directly is that if I hadn't bought their products through this site in the first place I would not have had contact with them at all and I feel it is something that ought to therefore be dealt with via Renderosity/Merchant guidelines . I don't consider use of my e-mail address as part of the buyer/seller transaction here. If it is actually taken for granted that a Renderosity merchant may do this then I think there should be a box to tick in the transaction process allowing a buyer to say 'no thank you' to direct e-mails. I have bought items from here over the last 4 years but this direct e- mails is quite a new occurrence, the last four months or so. I hope it stops.

Hi Gini,

Was the email to you directly?  Can you please let me know the content of the email so I can be sure that it's not something within our system??  We monitor "Email to buyers" emails that go through our system, and they're not allowed to advertise sales.  You will get new product release ebots when one of your favorite vendors releases a new product.

I'd like more information on this please, so if you could email me at DebbieM@renderosity.com, I'd be more than happy to look into it.
