I quite agree about this whole thing needing to slow down.
I didn't say people can't speak out. I've been involved in enough protests/boycots to know this is the case. Two thoughts:
- Not all protests are right. Sometimes it is neccessary to protest against protestors.
- There is a right place, way and time to protest. Protesting at every opportunity and in every venue can weaken your protest, it can alienate similarly minded people and it can destroy communities. Sometimes sending a private message to the right people can have more of an effect than shouting from the roof tops. Sometimes the guy shouting from the roof tops drowns out the private message or makes acting on it impossible as the shouter will use "their" victory to continue and support their agenda.
