Yes, really. AMEX treats the card like a real CC when it is charged. If you're having trouble you might want to call the customer service number on the card or check the FAQ I linked. I had trouble once at one place because it wasn't accepting the expiration date I put in (you're supposed to use the current month/year) so I just put in the following month for the exp date and it went through. You can also call theri 1-800 number to check to make sure you have enough pre-paid on the card to cover the charge.
