now, what exactly your problem? Does bryce save the jpeg thumbinails in another folder than the br4 files, or does it not save them at all.

In the second case, look if in the preferences dialog you've checked to save an image with the file.

Otherwise please explain me better what happens. I'll try to help you.

You can always upgrade to bryce5, since it's now free.
