I had read that STOMP worked for hair that stalled out a render. I didn't know it also could work for any object to reduce it's rendering time. That's good to know.
The only time I tried STOMP was for some hair that was stalling out a render. The hair I was using comes in two parts. The bangs worked out fine but the cap part of the hair was a problem. It appeared like it loaded but it was nowhere to be found. Like it was coming in invisible. And it rendered in draft that way too. I deleted the obj file I sent thru STOMP and put back the back up obj file and it still seemed to load being invisible. I've since reinstalled it from the zip file and haven't tried it again. Kinda afraid to. I'm also kinda afraid to try STOMP on anything else.
Ouch jefsview! 12 hours to find out it wasn't going to render it. This render has been baking for a little over 12 hours. Poor machine is still trying to work on it. At some point I might stop it and do the tweaks I should have done in the first place to try to reduce the render time. There's a lot of stuff in the scene that won't be showing up in the actual image.
Thanks for all the advice!
