Heart'Song requested that I create the next challenge..so here it goes:) This time there will be 2 challenges...yes that's right 2! Challenge #1 - Create an award image for this forum. This is something I've been planing on doing but being so backloged with work I figured it would make a cool little challenge. Te goal is to make something of an award which will be given to each months winner so make it fit the theme of the forum..ie "challenge" Challenge #2 - "Artists Workplace" This one should be fun. Either for a traditional artist..colored pencils, pencil shavings, paint...or the computer artist, books, disks, Wacom..something showing the workspace of an artist...and we all know artists are not the neatest people in the world so make it looked worked in:o) To give you some inspiratation I have included a link to a VERY useful article..it's a must read to any 3D artist. I hope it's of some help. Good Luck! GeorgeD

Sounds good, George! For my first of probably at least a few entries for the Award part of it, I did this one. Zygote's Michael and Poser 4 for the figure, Amorphium for the sphere, Rhino for the base and the plaque, and the column is included with Vue d'Esprit 3. Rendered in Vue d'Esprit 3.1, and slightly touched up with Painter 6. This is rendered in Vue's "final" mode. It would have been a little better rendered in 'ultra" (which is more or less equivalent to Bryce's "Fina Art Show" setting), but I didn't want to wait, and halfway through it I realized I should have included the Renderosity name on the plaque. Doh! Will do a better version when I have time.... .... As for the other part of the challenge, THAT'S gonna be a toughie! It's a pretty good idea though. I've seen a few people already do similar things, and I shudder at the thought of having to assemble all those objects, but I suppose I'll give it a shot... gonna have to make some new objects though-- oh well, I need the practice anyway! Cheers, Mike

Here's my second entry, with a mind more towards something simple, along the same sort of idea as those little pics people post under award winning pictures on their websites. This is the version of the plaque which included the Renderosity name, which I should have had on there to begin with! If anyone likes this object and would like to use it for his/her submission, say so, and I'll put it in Free Stuff. It's a Rhino-made thing, and converted to 3DS with 3D Exploration, and around 1.2 MB, due to the large amout of polygons involved in the boolean difference that serves to be the text. Cheers, Mike

Sounds great George, but the 2nd Challenge - "Artists Workplace" sounds like way to many polygons to me! It may give my little socket 7 a case of spark-knock, but I'll give it a shot!

Would it be cheating if I just took a picture of my work area and sent that in? It'd save me a lot of time, George. ;{)

Now where's the challenge in that? :O) GeorgeD

Hey, photography is also an art. :)

GeorgeD ( ) posted Fri, 20 April 2001 at 11:54 PM

Yes it is but TRLee is a very good artist and shouldn't take the easy way out:O) Besides this forum is directed towards 3D work. Maybe if there is enough interest we could start some photo challenges. Let me know and we can set it up. GeorgeD

I think it would be neat to see actual photos of everyone work space, itrainin
