oh! on suggestions/looks.... hmm.
ok, here's my train of thought.
so i tend more towards fantasy in my reading habits, and more towards sf in my pics and purchases. so i asked myself why. and i came back with the authors i all thought were good in fantasy didn't write about the sort of common elf/ranger/wizard bits. they used fantastic elements to talk about broader things, like language and meaning, nature, suffering, redemption, etc. one thing i just personally am not drawn to about most poser fantasy stuff is it tends to be people with pointy ears in quasi-medieval garb and setting... and only that. or really cute people with big eyes and wings. i don't have anything against that, and i can appreciate how lovely a lot of them are. that said, the artists whose works i've really appreciated have (in my eyes) gone beyond, "oh, they're so cute and precious," or "they're so beautiful and in such lovely dresses." to me, an elf isn't just a man or woman with nice skin, lots of makeup, ornate clothes and pointy ears. or one that's interesting to me isn't. i think it's about beings that are like humans, but unlike us, are one with nature. they can have different qualities from that point, but (again, my opinion), that's the basis for any fantastic humanoid being more than a human in historical garb.
so, given that goal, of depicting beings that are integrated with nature, i figured a good way to show that is clothing of natural objects that almost seem to merge with the being wearing them. still beautiful, and still ornate and layered , but not of common human manufacture. a good example of the sort of realism and natural elements i mean are the Tree People for V3 and Woodland Props-Tree and V-Tree (Mother Earth) here in the market place. that said, both are less layered and designed in their bodies than i was thinking. and are only bark. i'm thinking of anything from leaves and petals to moss and stone to shells and seaweed. still designed, still layered and still ornate, on top of being realistic.
now that's a very specific sort of goal, so i don't know how helpful that would be. that said, i would bet that most of the faerie crew would go for textures with arien's quality and style (see her incredible lace), but made of natural elements rather than fabric (or in the above case, metal - which i must say is very cool). autumn wear would be very timely, and the leaves and seed pods and general foliage should soon be ready to be harvested for scanning.
