LMAO, your title brought to mind that episode of CSI called "Fur and Loathing in Las Vegas", about a Furry Convention. Strangest thing I've ever seen!!!! LOLAs for your question, try that thread:
"It is good to see ourselves as
others see us. Try as we may, we are never
able to know ourselves fully as we
are, especially the evil side of us.
This we can do only if we are not
angry with our critics but will take in good
heart whatever they might have to
say." - Ghandi
Agree with you Acadia - that episode was so bizzare :D And thanks for the link too, as new P5 user I appreciate any info on Material Room and Cloth Room :-)
For real-looking fur postwork seems to be one of most popular solutions though. Smudging a bit the edges of furry figure adds some nice fluff.

It occurs to me that a part of the fur problem is related to sub-surface scattering--the way that light penetrates the skin surface before being scattered with the tint of blood. While there isn't the same colour change with fur there is the same diffuse reflection from below the outermost surface. Face_Off worked out a simulation of the effect for skin, using a complicated P5 shader tree. It depends on light positiona relative to the surface. P6 introduced a shader node to do the same job. Luckily, my black-and-white cat isn't inclined to scratch. The individual fibres of her fur have their own sub-surface scattering, and the bulk effect seems dominated by reflection from the hair surface. Yoo might want to use a desaturated and lighter version of the fur texturemap for the bulk effect. I shall now go and persuade Tabitha to come out from behind the TV.

If THAT didn't get your attention :tongue2:
I need people's opinion on fur textures (2D-Textures):
I have the anamoprhic character packages, and I thought about buying some of the fur textures that are available through here.
However, have people used these with a realistic result? In other words, I would like the fur to LOOK like fur, not just a skin.
Thoughts?
