I really like this first interpretation, it gives you the subtle buffers as not to be so stark in format. Even when composing a digital rendering I'm usually looking for "3rds" or the "The Golden Rectangle". I guess If I don't end up with a strict rule in place after a quick shot, it'll probably get cropped to follow one of the comp rules.
