I used to be a welder, many years ago, long before automatic darkening welding sheilds...
They call it being flashed, BTW, and some weldors would try to do it to unsuspecting passer-bys.
After it happens the whole world seems smokey, and it feels like you have sand in your eyes.
Oddly enough, when you get flashed you are semi-imune to it happening again for about a month or so. At least the effects aren't as bad.
Anyway, keep forging ahead on the remapping! ;-)
