BTW - I've heard somewhat differing accounts of this -- but I've seen news reports / read stories which indicate that identifying oneself too strongly as being "English" -- or for that matter, using the name "England" -- is somewhat un-politically correct these days. I've heard that the accepted terms are now "British" or "UK". Like, it's OK to be proudly Scottish or Irish -- but it's not OK to be proudly English.
IMO -- the English have a long and proud history. So they have every right to proudly call themselves "English".
But I despise Political Correctness in all of its forms. This being another one of those poisonous forms which so haunt the modern Western world.
