i don't think the english invented the modrn plane. maybe the jet engine but the plane...never. if i were asked who was the father of modern aviation  (last 100 yrs) i think after reading a few things about it i'd gp with pearse the new zealander. if it ws who inveted the modern airplane....thats a toughy..i think it just a natural progression from the glider.  or i would if xenophon wasn't bullying me into saying the wright brothers. so i have to say the wright brothers i guess. he'll be back from pot duty shortly so i can't take any chances.
