Subject: My Poser Godzilla Animation Posted at You Tube.com

My "epic" Poser animation "A Tribute to Godzilla" is now  posted at You Tube.com.
Shows what even an animation novice (like me) can do to bring Poser characters to life.

The direct link at You Tube for the animation should be:

OMG! That is just too funny! Great job on the animation.

Don't skip the end credits when you watch this (and you all really should watch this, it's fantastic work!)

Thank you kindly, redhawk.  I'm glad you enjoyed it.

The file posted with an unfortunate half-second or so delay in the soundtrack, and motion was a bit jumpy compared to the original file, but it posted quite well overall.

I hope that others will get to see it too and discover what can be done with animatimg in Poser.

I was impressed with the resolution and the story, fantastic job! I've done some animations that I've posted on YoutTube myself

They aren't as long since I'm still trying to figure out what the best format for uploading them is. What did you save it as in Premiere? Quicktime .mov or mpeg4? 320x240 or higher? Did you use any kind of compression like Cinepak or Sorensen 3?

LOL! Fantastic job on the animation!! What a coincidence, I just bought the Toho Master Collection 2 disc set of Gojira (the original Japense version of Godzilla) on DVD two days ago.

That was an absolute howl fest!  I loved it.  The end just rocked.  Even the ending credits were rock solid hilarious.  Watching Godzilla rock down was amazingly funny!

You really ought to post it on Newgrounds, as well!  You rock, dude!  Masterful execution of a hysterical idea!  WHeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

How about posting those anims at a place where us dialup users can download them?

Well YouTube is as easy a download as you're going to get for video since it converts it into a Flash .flv file, the user friendly part is what makes it so popular.

If I could figure out how to get the resolution part figured out then I'd have something that could get a wider audience with

I saw this earlier today, and it's absolutely FAN-bloody-TASTIC!

Wow! You rock!

Are the explosions made in postwork or somehow part of the render? And is it rendered in Poser?

Excellent work Terry! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lotsa animation - musta taken forever!

Thanks, everyone, for the comments of appreciation.  It was a lot of hard work, but your accolades made it very worthwhile.  I'm so glad you enjoyed it.

UVDan, I previously posted this animation at www.changestorm.com where he had it in all kinds of formats for viewing, including for dial-up modems.  You can try that site, but the last time I checked it the site seemed to be experiencing troubles.  (BTW, I finally got "broadband" myself just a few weeks ago in the form of a new laptop with a built-in verizon EVDO card.  My home PC is still a dial-up unit, as the laptop is a business expense but my home PC is on my  nickle, and I just can't afford the extra 20 or 30 bucks a  month.  Sigh...)

Terry- this is GREAT news! I remember when you first created the animation, years ago. Was it 2003 or 2004? I also remember you had some issues with Blue Oyster Cult: the band liked your animation, but the record label wouldn't give you clearance. I'm glad to see everything got straightened out. I hope Blue Oyster Cult enjoys the free publicity you're giving them!

And I'm not just saying this because your Godzilla smashed my helicopters. :)

Thanks for the link Terry Mitchell.  The video is prominently linked on the home page.  Unfortunately, I could not stream it from there either.  God I wish these places would just let you have the damn video on your hard drive.

You can get the videos from YouTube on your hard drive from places like KeepVid.com in an .flv format and either play them with Riva FLV Player or convert them to some other format with Total Video Converter.

There are usually several solutions to these kind of problems around if you look for them

UVDan, yeah, that's the problem I encountered when I last tried to stream from that site, which is why I went ahead and posted it on You Tube.

Pakled, blame it on Hoaglan'ds helicopters, which is why they ended up getting smashed by Godzilla.

Awesome Animation...I have as my favorite. Can not wait to show my son and others. How long did this take you?

Terry Mitchell ( ) posted Sat, 14 October 2006 at 11:30 AM

Thank you for the compliment, Robo2010.

It toolk almost nine months in total working a few hours here and there at night after work and many weekends, but this included a lost month or so to recover from a computer crash.   Each "scene" (there's a bunch of them)  took from a couple of hours to a day or more to create (including figuring out camera and lighting angles, craracter movements, etc.).  Most of the time was taken up by Poser rendering.  Took a couple days total to do the special effects in ParticleIllusion, and then a fews days worth of editing it all together (with the soundtrack a and sound effects) in Adobe Premiere.

Totally awesome.  I grew up on the rubber suit Godzilla movies and this was just great.   Your sense of humor is fantastic--I particularly like the dinosaur battle at the end.  Godzilla pirouetting through part of the credits about had me falling out of my chair.
