Another question. Can you put a tex OVER a material, like a decal? Sea Siren has her name
and emblem on the conning tower, and if this can be applied over an existed material, then
mats should do for most of the sub and textures will only be needed on screens and a few
other areas. I'm hoping the answer is yes. :)
Short Answer: Yes. Save your decal as a PNG with an alpha-channel mask. In the materials room, use the scale and offset parameters on the image map to size and position the decal. Then feed the materials settings for the overall background into the Background input. Easiest is to load the MAT first, and reconnect the diffuse color through the image_map node. The big advantage is that you don't need a huge decal image. I'm not sure if the alpha channel element works in Poser 5. At worst, you would have to make a mask as a seperate bitmap and use a blender node. For something like painted letters, you could use math nodes to distinguish the colour from a white (or black) background, turning grey and white into black and white.
