Wood at the seaside in wharves and jetties always gets bleached a dull grey colour. Wood on the upright piles will have a barnacle layer around the tidal zone then be darker below the surface, but dull grey above the tidal zone... 20 years in the Navy was good for something :-)
An interesting challange to create a good texture mat for the upright piles, or cheat and use a photo.
