Every comment is welcome.* This happens now with the Gnu software (see this link), which includes a very useful C++ for DOS compiler, and they are writing a C++ for Windows compiler. The IJG software to write and read JPG files is also open-code, and I have helped IJG by finding and reporting some parts of their program text that didn't compile right with a Borland compiler.
