This model would be absolutely perfect with a steamboat model I just snaked from Renderosity Freebies.
If this is a vertically short pier, don't forget to put "bumpers" on those piles, as to prevent damage to both them and the boats. Old bumpers were made of wrapped rope, new ones, cut up tire halves.
The other thing to possibly consider (depending on the era you had in mind) Lights, lanterns or torches may be an appropriate addition. Oh... especially the safety pier lights that are often at the end of it so boats don't slam into it and know which is the port and starbord (or if you're feeling Twainian Stabbord and Labbord) sides.
Textures... meh... they can come later.
It's looking like this is going to be another high quality model, So I hope I'm not kibbutzing too much for you. :c)
