My mom has had chrohns. It can be be scarey. There is also a blood test for chrohns so check with the doctor about that.  I've had a scope put down my throat. no anesticia(sp) Wasn't fun, but didn't hurt. they pumped air in my stomach and told me not to burp. Yeah right, just try not burping when a big gust of air fills up your tummy. Not sure if they still put air in. Mine was done about 15 yrs ago. I'm sure they've made improvements.

Anyhow, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that whatever is causing your ailment isn't too serious. If you do have chrohn's and would like to talk, just IM me. Problem with chrohns is that it varies enormously from person to person.
