Subject: My 8 reasons for pre-ordering Poser 7...

Hi,

There seems to be quite a lot of negative feeling about Poser 7 and pre-ordering, so I thought I'd add my top 8 reasons FOR pre-ordering P7.

  1. I will almost certainly get Poser 7 at some point, and the pre-order offer is really quite cheap considering the huge sums of money that I have spent on Poser content that I thought I needed, but have never used.
  2. Although Poser 7 is likely to have some new bugs, every version of Poser that I have had, IMHO, has (eventually) been an improvment on the previous version.
  3. The new characters, Content Paradise gift voucher and the free six months of CP passport membership means that, even if Poser 7 is actually unusable, I will still be just about ahead of the game.
  4. I want Poser 8 or 9 or 10 to be multi-processor, 64 bit, hyper realistic, speedy rendering AND a joy to use. The only way I can see this happening is if I support the software developers.
  5. I will download my Poser 7, then watch the forum postings to see what issues and problems there are. If I have to wait for SR1 or SR2 before I actually install and use the software, I will still have had the pre-ordering discount.
  6. I am a sucker for special offers on 3D software. I still don't know what I am going to do with Bryce 6 which I got from DAZ PC for $6. Guess I might be able to make some nice backgrounds!
  7. My purchased and freebie filled library of 3D content (currently about 25 GB of stuff) has to be supported. I can't see how I would have such great stuff to use if I moved away from Poser to another 3D application.
  8. Poser 7 just might have some great improvements, features and fixes.

Regards,
Jovial.

I think we all accept that we'll all get it [at some point]. For me I'm not jumping this time because I got burned with P6 which was next to useless for Months before SR1 came out to address the memory bug.

There's only one thing that would make me pre-order right now and that is if they say that the Volumetric lighting is as good as V5I's is right now because when you compare Vue's lighting to Poser's it wins hands down IMVHO!

Hmm... useless?

I'd have to disagree there. I had zero problems with P6. Before or after SR1 even with multiple figures in a scene.

Well maybe "useless" was a bit strong and maybe you were one of the lucky ones who didn't have issues, but for a lot of us the memory issue was a big problem for Months, to the point where all my commercial stuff had to be done on P5 because I just couldn't trust P6 to get the job done!

It was literally Months and after SR1 that I could confidently use P6 for my commercial work, of course now I think it's a super bit of kit and wouldn't be without it and P5 went a long time ago now!!!

I had some minor issues with P5 and P6 but never those problems some reported here. All in all P5 and P6 always worked fine for me. That's why I pre ordered P7 - I'm sure it will work fine too. I simply love Poser and I want to have the new version.

I am not very happy that everyone gets the same upgrade price, even those who have got P5 for free, but OTOH I've got P4, PP and P5 free from EgiSys (for review) and was able to use my P5 serial for upgrading to P6 - so who am I to begrudge others who are going to get the same good deal. Only thing that I do not like that much is that european customers have to order their P7 from efrontier directly what means I have to import P7 and pay additional customs fee and the VAT after it arrived in Germany. That was all included with what I had to pay for my P6 upgrade and that  was much better than what I have pay now.

I learned my lesson last time.
I waited for AGES for the darn thing to arrive... while everyone else pulled their copies down pronto.
Days and DAYS passed...

This time I'm going to download the darn thing.
