This thread reminds me of something I've been doing for a while now, on and off...

I prefer Bryce's terrain creation facilities to that of Vue ('cos I know it better, probably), but prefer Vue's materials and rendering.  So what I've been doing recently is:

• Create terrain in Bryce.
• Edit it (in whatever way I want to do).
• Go to top view, and do a height render. Save the result as an image.
• Open Vue, load a terrain, apply the saved height-map as a "Picture" in the terrain editor....

Vue seems to give somewhat smoother results than Bryce, but that may be a resolution issue. Sometimes the vertical scale needs to be adjusted (but that's probably 'cos of my current settings), but it works:-)) - same terrain transferred from Bryce to Vue.
Textures are another matter altogether, (see above posts for help with that), but then I'm more comfortable with Vue's texture function editor than with Bryce's DTI...

Just thought I'd put an oar in the water (there's more than one way to use the 2 apps together..)
