If I could enlarge the icons themselves I would consider using them, because as you say, once you learn them you don't go back, but the problem is, I have difficulty seeing them - they look like little dots on the screen, all grouped together.  I'm not blind but I do wear glasses and even squinting, I can not see them comfortably.
