Quest you can use the Polygon mesh from nurbs object command with the advanced meshing options.  Then just undo the mesh command and start over with modified meshing options.  There is no need to rebuild anything.  When meshing in Rhino it is important to never check the refine mesh option and scale your model as large as possible in the viewport.
