great title and pose/point of view.... i don't know what you were going for on the wall, i suppose some people would expect a depressing image death and all that ;(.
however as a migraine sufferer, it reminds me of an "overwhelming" sight (when i get one of my headaches).
lastly you could change the title to Champion of "giant tetris "admits defeat    :)

As suggested, a clarification of what is overwhelming can help.

Didn't you know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That's why eyedrops and rose-colored glasses are needed.

I feel the wall is on the right track. Have you considered a very complex maze type image, could still be multi-coloured. For the wall and also for the floor, making floor reflective whilst wall is luminous/ambient.

Nice work thus far.

Nobody's ever played with that "Life" simulation game from the ol' 8-bit days. That's what the wall resembles to me. It could be a play on that idea.

I would put a tall glass filled half way with water...  between him and the wall... at his reach...  Prehaps he is deciding how he feels about things....

Really? I remember programming that fascinating simulation... in assembler. Some of us are a wee bit older than we care to admit.
