Subject: Holes in prop made in Poser

In the attempt to create what I would consider to be the perfect Vicki shorts, I tried to create a new shorts object from the Vicki pants (which comes in the DAZ CD).

There are holes in my new shorts, apparently in the seams where the objects connect. I would like help to determine how they got there and how to close them up.

To the extent that it helps, I did the following to create the shorts:

  1. Load the pants
  2. Bring up the grouping tool with the pants hips selected
  3. Create a new group called shortsClick on "spawn props"
  4. Click "add all" to get the entire hip
  5. Repeat steps 2 through 5 for abdomen, left buttock, and right buttock
  6. Move the pants with xtrans so I can see the new props I appreciate any suggestions.

  1. Pull up hierarchy editor and parent the shorts props for the abdomen, left buttock, and right buttock to the prop for the hips

You didn't move them all at once. So there are seams. I think it can be fixed in scaling, but I won't swear to it.

I think what will happen is if you convert the shorts into a figure. And make sure that there are weld statements for each part like there normally is. Those holes will go away. Poser has the ability to pull seams together if the .cr2 file contains the proper weld statements. ScottA

Is pulling the seams together something I cannot do within Poser itself? I notice that the grouping tool has a Weld Group option, but that doesn't seem to let me weld different props.

Those shorts are gonna be great! You wanted a more sexy short, and this looks like it's going to be prefect. Please post them when you're finished. How hard was it to do?

For weld to work, all the vertices must be exact (or within extemely low tolerances). Also make sure the bend check box is turned on for each part.

How do I weld the pieces together? I found an option for welding groups, but not props. I'd appreciate a step by step, down to with what menu I use to start.

The weld thing only works if you convert the shorts into a figure. Poser looks at the weld lines of the .cr2 file to pull the seams together. This can't be done with a prop. As far as I know. ScottA
