For what it's worth, I'm also have the Nvidia 93.71 driver (release date, November 2, 2006, BTW) installed for my Nvidia 7600 GT (PCI-x-16), and I don't have any problems at all with any apps and OGL. None whatsoever.
I don't yet have Poser 7, but among the other apps I'm using: Poser 6 (.03), Poser ProPack , LightWave 8.5 and 9.0, 3ds max 8 (demo), Deep Exploration, Modo 2.02...
I''m also big into the game Oblivion, which I run full out with no lag at all - all options maxed out except for I can only use 1 level of AA.

The previous forceware driver gave me problems with Windows Media Player 10, though - when I adjusted saturation, it also affected the hue, but the 93.71 update fixed that.

You're talking Wings and Poser here... no offense, but comparatively low-end apps. I'd be more inclined to believe that the problems are with the programs and not the drivers.
For example, I also used to use Vue 4 alot, and through 22 incremental updates, they never got the OGL working right, in spite of the fact that through all that, again, I had no trouble at all with anything else. (Vue 5 works well, though, from what I hear)

I don't know the specifics, 'cause I'm not a programmer, but I do know that it's not just a matter of plugging Open GL functionality into a program, and there are some that don't quite get it right.
