Subject: Props are not loading into scene, please help

KK1617 ( ) posted Tue, 26 December 2006 at 11:25 PM · edited Sat, 10 August 2024 at 1:58 AM

While I am working in Poser 6, certain props that I have downloaded are showing up properly in my Library, but when I double click them, or click on the check mark to add to my scene, they will not show up in my scene. Is there a setting I have to change or are the files corrupted? Please help.

Thanks!

They may be referencing a separate geometry file which you may not have or may be in the wrong location.

Open the prop library file in Word pad. If this is the case, very near the top you will see the line that calls for an OBJ file. You can then check to see if that file is available.

OBJ problem is solved. However, I just noticed that the issue also applies to PNG's (and I am pretty sure they are all located in my "Poses" folder in the Poser 6 library). For example, I purchased "High Fashion Lifestyle-Breezy" made by Pretty3d. The folder came with clothing to put on V3 models. The clothing has shown up before in the past. In fact, every PNG file I have has shown up before, so it doesn't just apply to "High Fashion Lifestyle-Breezy".

But yesterday I had to do a little "rearranging" with the zip folders since they were not all in my main Poser 6 directory. I also had to extract files that I downloaded as "freebies" from the Holiday Giveaway Week 4. Now, no PNG's will show up in my scene. Maybe it is because of my reorganizing the zip files? I'm almost positive no important files have been damaged.

One last thing, while I was extracting certain files, this message came up: "The files 'License' and 'ReadMe' already exists. Do you want to rename these files?" And the options would be "Yes", "Yes to all", "No", and "No to all". I wasn't really sure what to do so I did "Yes to all". Might this be the problem?

I really don't know how to solve this problem and would like some more help please :(

Go to Edit-General Preferences, then the "Libraries" tab.  Click on "Never Collapse Thumbnails," or set a higher number in the other option.

The message means that there is already a file by that name.  Depending on where you are saving the files, you may be overwriting the same file, or one for another item with the same name.  I always put things away by hand, and change the name "readme" to reflect the product.

That will not cause any problems in Poser.
