Subject: Miki and V4 question

From my understanding, Miki and V4 cannot be used in anything preceding Poser 6.  Is this correct?  If so, what makes it impossible to use them in, say, Poser 4?

It's my understanding that some people have used V4 in the P4 ProPack.  I, myself, have opened V4 in Poser 5 but don't have P4 installed any longer.  The one thing I get in P5 is the message about being a newer version than expected but she does open.

The reason they say P6 or better is because of the extensive use of the shader nodes that P4 doesn't have so you lose a lot of resolution on the skin textures.

Thank you.  I only ask because I know I've pruchased items here at Renderosity (mostly environments) that state that they're for P5 or above, but they open perfectly well in P4.  I wasn't sure if they added something to V4 and Miki that made them completely unworkable in P4.

Miki and Koji works fine in Poser PP by running them through "MorphExchange" by kuroyume0161, first. It can be found in the freebie section here. But if you wan´t to create new chars of them you have to use either the magnets within or a external 3D modelling software.

V4 also works fine in Poser PP, although not perfect when it comes to posing her, but with some fiddling it can be done:)

I know very little about Miki.  Does she come with morphs but they don't work in P4?  Sorry about the questions.  I've just always been curious.

The headmorphs are compressed into a pmd file that the cr2 are calling.  
Anyway...the MorphExchange (Java app) extracts it into the cr2 again. 
But remember that I´m only talking about face expressions here, nothing else! 
Other Head stuff have to be created in the Face room in Poser 6...

Otherwise Miki and Koji comes without morphs. Just as V3 and M3. The rest have to be bought aside. As usual...

  • V4 on the other hand comes with everything embedded in the cr2, just as V2 and M2 did:)

I've used V4 beta in Poser 4.  She seems to work fine, but you could only load one copy.

They seems to have fixed that though, as SuperStar Vickie (who is based on V4) seems to work fine in Poser 4, as you can see. 

I loaded up her clothing AND 3 more copies of her, no problems other than P4 doesn't understand the Pose subfolders, you have to move some files up one level so Poser can find them.  It also slowed down a lot more than P6 does.

Poser 4 had crosstalk problems with the addittional figures, of course.
