Let's assume we have V3 with a 'pointy ear' morph dialed in and the other mesh is Sydney.
If I understand correctly (and if it worked perfectly), using your old/current script, you'd end up with a "Sydney that looks like V3 with pointy ears".
The aproach I'm suggesting means that you don't 'dial in' the morph on V3 at all, you let the user select it from a list and you end up with "Sydney that looks like Sydney, but with pointy ears" .
