Alabama - Not sure if this is a contribution or not: American Idol Winners. But for over 100 years Alabama was one of the biggest steel producers in the US. Hardly exists here today. Also the Muscle Shoals Sound - Aretha Franklin, Alman Bros, Lynard Skynard, Rolling Stones, to name a few. Also mostly gone. Harper Lee and "To Kill A Mockingbird".
