I have a book somewhere on all the Scots contributions to the world, and how they 'saved' England in the 17th-18th Centuries. There was also 'the Wealth of Nations', one of the original books on economics. 

but then I have another book called 'How the Irish saved Civilization'...so I guess it's always something..;)

My grandmother was the last of the McLennans in McLennan county, so I could be prejudiced..;)
