It seems to me that we'll need a point on each edge of each triangle, too, which is where I expected to use the edgelengths array. Does your min_line_distance make that unnecessary?
A Numeric array will not allow the mixing of ints and floats, as far as I can tell. A homemade array using lists would permit it.
I'm not sure what you mean by "flatfile"....
A triplet of weights? Now I'm confused. I thought we just wanted one weight value per index, which would be used to adjust the delta for the vertex. I'm used to thinking of weights as I've encountered them for bending in Blender, so I may have misunderstood you at the outset.
I'll have to understand what you're planning a bit better before I can grasp what might or might not work....
